Barry Jones: Dictionary of World Biography

The Hon. Dr. Barry Jones, AO, is a Professorial Fellow at the University of Melbourne. A Member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1972-1977, he was a Member of the federal House of Representatives between 1977 and 1998, and Science Minister from 1983-1990. He was National President of the Australian Labor Party in 1992-2000, and 2005-2006. Barry has published several books, including Sleepers, Wake!: Technology and the Future of Work, Barry Jones’ Dictionary of World Biography, and his autobiography, A Thinking Reed. He is the first, and thus far the only, person to be elected a Fellow of all four Australian learned academies. Phillip Adams and Barry will speak about writing the Dictionary of World Biography, which has been re-published by the National Centre of Biography and ANU E Press.
